September 2020 - May 2021
|This year due to the uncertainty caused by Covid-19 we have
decided to offer the Spiritual Conversation Course solely ONLINE
using ZOOM. We hope that people living LOCALLY will take part
alongside those from other parts of the UK and OVERSEAS.
Participants in this course develop skills to enter into conversations on life, death, joy, illness, relationships, God and the spiritual side of life. Those who work in church visiting, hospital or other chaplaincy work or just conversing with friends are able to be more comfortable talking about some of life's serious subjects. Teachers, and those working in various capacities in the NHS and social work have found the insights and skills gained through the course invaluable to their practice.
The course is based in the Jesuit tradition of St Ignatius Loyola and explores the attitudes, skills and ways of listening and discerning contained in good spiritual conversation. It is a requirement for those going on to train in Spiritual Accompaniment / Direction.
Topics covered in the course
Module 1: Listening Skills.
Module 2: Personal Prayer – Ways of Praying
Module 3: Ignatian Discernment.Module 4: The practice of Spiritual Conversation in Daily Life.
We hope that as many as possible will be able to attend the weekend sessions outlined in the information sheet below but we will also try to meet the needs of those unavailable at these times because of work or time zone in a separate group. This will depend upon there being sufficient interest.
Please complete the online booking form if you are interested in taking part in this course. Once you apply a conversation will be arranged to discuss your application and answer questions.
