The Ignatian Spirituality Centre offers four different styles of Online Retreats

1. Retreat in Daily Life

A retreat where you continue your usual daily routine, but find space for a period of prayer each day, probably between 20 minutes and an hour.

  • During the retreat you will meet a guide once a week.
  • This is an Advent Retreat which runs from Sunday 22nd of November to Friday 18th of December, 2020.

2. Lenten Group Retreat

A retreat which is also in daily life, but instead of meeting weekly one to one with a guide, you will meet with a group.

  • There is daily material provided to inspire your prayer.
  • We shall be looking at Gospel stories in order to get to know the person of Jesus better.
  • This retreat lasts from Ash Wednesday 17th February to Easter Sunday 4th April, 2021.

3. Bespoke Individually Guided Retreats

This is a full time retreat similar to retreat that are organised in retreat centres.

  • You will need to be able to find time for between three and five  prayer sessions a day and ideally not be working or having to do other things.
  • It is a time to focus on your relationship with God.
  • You will meet personally with a retreat guide daily.
  • Dates to be arranged via the Ignatian Spirituality Centre and with a personal retreat guide.
Week beginning July 4, 11, & 25, August 1 and 15 (Weeks alternate with the fixed dates retreats below)

4. Fixed Date Individually Guided Retreats

As with the bespoke retreat above this is a full time retreat.

  • You will have a daily meeting with a retreat guide.
  • However, there will be a daily gathering together on Zoom with group guides and other people who are involved in this retreat to pray together.
This gives a sense of solidarity with others in prayer.
  • These retreats are of different lengths during the summer months of 2021.
We do a number of 6 day retreats and one 30-day full Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius.
Easter Individually Guided  retreat 11-17 April 2021
Summer Individually Guided Retreats: June 27-4 July, July 18-24, August 8-14, and August 22-28

Open to all:  These retreats are open to anyone between the ages of 18 and 100, men or women, Christian, other religion or of no particular faith.

Time Commitment: Be realistic.  If you can put aside a week to dedicate to prayer, then an individually guided retreat would be good.  But if you are only likely to fit in one period each day, then the retreat in daily life would be your best bet.  Either way you will be given suggestions as to ways to meditate and ideas of things to pray about.

Guide's Role: Typically you will see the guide online for 30 and 45 minutes. They will listen to how things have gone with you, give you support, and make suggestions where necessary.  They are not there to judge you, or to try to get you to commit to any particular religion. The guide's role is to help you to profit from the retreat experience and get in touch with your own deeper desires and so find out what really brings you joy, freedom and best service of God and other.
The guide should not give advice, psychotherapy or counselling.

Initial contact will be made by email, then for the individually guided retreats we suggest either Skype, Zoom or whatever social media platform for face to face communication suits both you and the guide.

No Charge - Donation Basis:  We are making no fixed charge for this retreat, but we would appreciate a donation if you can afford it, which will be shared with your retreat guide.
Sliding Scale
As a suggestion you might be able to offer whatever you receive for an hour of your time for each day you meet with a guide?

Limited Number of Places: Please be aware that we only have a limited number of guides with a limited number of places, and little idea of how many people might request such a retreat, so please be understanding if we cannot fulfill every request.
