Stay Curious: Reaching Across the Divide in an Intensely Polarised World
Steve Innes
At a time when tribal divisions and polarized rhetoric seem to make navigating difficult conversations and conflict almost impossible, we need greater imagination for how conflict can be transformed into something constructive rather than simply destructive. Drawing from wisdom from philosophy, psychology, poetry and Judeo-Christian spiritual traditions, we will examine what it means to “welcome the Other”, and in doing so increase our desire and confidence to live in a community that is curious, open, and disagrees well.

Pope Leo states that the parables “help us to rediscover hope, because they show us how God acts in history. While Jesus' parables are taken from everyday life, their goal is to convey something more profound. They encourage us all to raise questions within us. Where am I in this story? What does this image say to my life?”
Watching ‘The Chosen’ raises those same questions in us: Where am I in this story? What does this scene say to my life?

Mick Ashworth
Hills and mountains feature quite often in the Bible, including in the gospels, where they seem to have been a favourite place of retreat for Jesus. And Christianity is not the only religion to revere mountains. So what is it about high places, and why are some hailed as sacred?
